Mud is counterintuitive -- you don't want to go as low as sand or rock. A moderately aired-down tire with aggressive tread will self-clean better than a flat, mushy tire.
| Setup | PSI Range |
|---|---|
| Standard Wheels | 16-24 PSI (moderate reduction) |
| Beadlock Wheels | 12-16 PSI with beadlocks |
Moderate PSI helps the tread self-clean. Too low can create suction that bogs you down. Momentum matters more than pressure in mud. If you have mud-terrain tires, the tread does most of the work.
Going too low in mud creates suction -- the tire deforms and traps mud instead of shedding it. Spinning tires dig holes. Steady throttle wins.
